Birmingham, Alabama.  Much colder air has arrived; Will last about 36 hours.

Jerry Tracey

Weather maps over the southeastern states are dominated by a huge storm in the upper atmosphere.  The deepest moisture came and went with the actual cold frontal passage earlier on Sunday, so the precipitation we get from now on will be intermittent and generally fairly light.  It was actually snowing at a decent rate atop Red Mountain around 8:40 pm, but it only lasted about 5 minutes.  The intermittent nature of the snow combined with relatively warm ground temperatures means that accumulation is expected.  However I think there is a chance grassy areas and car tops could turn white in some locations.  That will certainly be the exception and not the rule.  The core of the coldest air is arriving now, and will hang around through about 9 am.  Beyond that time, gradual warming will take place, and what falls Monday afternoon will likely be rain.  Skies will clear Tuesday, and it will start to warm up, and the mid-week period looks quite nice.
